Pros

  • The Aquagames (Total fun): A massive resort with water facilities designed for everyone, from babies to teenagers and parents. The variety of tall, fast slides is impressive.
  • Top-notch staff: The staff was better than average. They’re quick, polite and solve problems with a smile.
  • Mosquito control: A detail I loved seeing is that there are fumigators walking around the resort in the afternoons. In such a tropical, vegetation-heavy area, this care is much appreciated.

Cons

  • Value for money: If you find it cheaper than others in its category, great. But if you pay the same as at superior 5-star hotels, you’ll feel the food and facilities are a step below.
  • Rooms with “buts”: They’re big, yes, but the details fall short. The sofa bed is uncomfortable (watch out if traveling with older kids), the hairdryer is old and the amenities are very basic.
  • Food without “wow”: There’s variety, sure, but it won’t surprise you. Closer to a 4-star than a luxury 5-star.

Good to know

If you’re looking for a hotel in Punta Cana and traveling with kids, it’s impossible not to come across the Grand Sirenis . Its calling card is unbeatable: it has one of the biggest water parks in the entire area (the Sirenis Aquagames ) and sits on a massive estate full of coconut palms that makes you feel like you’re in the wildest part of the Caribbean.

But after staying there, I have to be completely honest with you. On paper it looks spectacular, but the reality is that it’s a resort of contrasts . You get incredible water facilities for the kids, yes, but the overall quality of the food and rooms feels closer to a good 4-star than a luxury 5-star.

In this review I’ll tell you whether it’s really worth choosing this hotel for its water slides, or if, for the same price, there are better options where both kids and parents can enjoy more.

Read this quickly to find out if it might be for you or not: the Grand Sirenis is a decent option ONLY if you find a good deal and your priority is water slides and a safe beach for the kids.

The best part: it’s a paradise for active families. The water park impresses with its variety of slides and its two additional zones for different age groups with shallow pools and mini slides.

Plus, the beach is perfect for little ones because it’s very clean and the water is very shallow , so they can play at the shore without risks.

The worst part: If you pay a high price (we paid about €284/night in low season), you’ll feel disappointed. The rooms are large but basic (old hairdryer with skimpy amenities) and the sofa bed is quite uncomfortable for sleeping several nights. The buffet food is quite good: there’s variety, but it lacks that quality touch or “wow” factor you’d expect at a resort of this level.

In conclusion: It’s a 100% family hotel (nothing romantic for couples) that I only recommend to active families who prioritize kids’ water fun over room luxury or fine dining.

If the price is similar to other hotels on my lists, honestly, there are better options like Wyndham Alltra, Nickelodeon Punta Cana or RIU Palace Bavaro .

The Water Park (Aquagames): Very Big and for All Ages

If you’re going to book this hotel, it’s probably because of the water park. The Sirenis Aquagames is a complete water park inside the resort.

Free-fall slides (for the brave): they have tall, fast slides with plenty of curves that pick up quite a bit of speed.

  • The standout: there’s a “kamikaze” style one (the fastest) that gives you vertigo, but it’s really cool and safe. Encourage your teenage kids to try it (or go yourself) because the adrenaline is worth it.

Tiered splash zones (very well organized): what I liked most is that they don’t mix babies with older kids.

  • 2-5 year zone: they have a themed pool with animals and water jets, very calm.
  • Up to 10 year zone: another separate area with mini slides and a tipping water bucket, ideal for kids who want action but aren’t ready for the big ones.

Parent amenities: while the kids run around, you have a snack bar surrounding the water area and a pool with waterfalls and loungers with umbrellas. It’s the perfect refuge to watch them without burning in the sun.

  • ⚠️ Watch out for this

    Be careful on the “Turbine” slide (the spinning one). If you don’t maintain the correct posture when landing (legs crossed and tense), you can hit your heel hard when hitting the water. It’s nothing serious , but it might put you off trying it again. It’s a design flaw that needs improvement, so warn your kids to go down carefully.

The Beach and Pools: Wild but Safe Setting

The hotel is in the Uvero Alto area, which is known for being more “wild” and less built-up than Bávaro. The estate is huge, full of coconut palms and tropical gardens that make you feel surrounded by nature.

The Beach (ideal for kids): although Uvero Alto tends to have a reputation for waves, this hotel’s area surprised me in a good way.

  • Safety: it’s one of the cleanest beaches we saw and has a key feature: the water is very shallow . You have to go quite far out for the water to reach your waist. This is priceless if you’re traveling with small children, because they can play at the shore without risk while you relax.

Extras: there’s an adapted area for reduced mobility and a small playground right on the sand.

  • The Pools: Besides the water park, the hotel has two massive pools that run through the complex. One of them is about 2m deep and perfect for swimming.
  • The best part: They have a beach-style entrance (gentle ramp) that slopes down gradually. No sudden steps. This is perfect for babies who want to splash where the water barely covers a finger, or for elderly people. This is where aquagym usually happens and there’s lots of atmosphere.

In summary: A very green and natural setting, with a beach and pools designed so families can relax. However, the internet connection is not always reliable at the water park or on the beach. If you are considering buying an eSIM for your trip, it can be useful for staying connected during Uber or taxi rides, excursions, emergencies, or in areas of the hotel with weak Wi-Fi. Food: Decent Buffet That Doesn’t Live Up to 5 Stars

In a hotel this big, food is a logistical matter. You won’t find delicatessen here (except at the snack stand), but you will find practical options to feed the whole family without worry.

The Buffet (Decent, no magic): Honestly, the food quality is closer to a 4-star than a luxury 5-star.

  • What you’ll find: There’s plenty of variety and quantity, you won’t go hungry. They have a grilled meats area and lots of pasta and salads.
  • My favorite: the stand with sandwiches, rolls and “gourmet” montaditos, both cold and hot.

The reality: The taste is “normal.” The desserts, for example, look good but taste a bit industrial. It does its job of feeding you, but it won’t surprise you and you won’t remember the dishes when you get back home.

The King of Snacks (The lifesaver): Where the hotel gains points is in the availability of fast food.

  • For the kids: They have a snack zone that’s essential when kids come out of the water starving at odd hours. It’s not “gourmet,” but it’s exactly what you need at a family resort so you don’t have to wait for the main restaurant to open.

We couldn’t try the themed restaurants due to issues with the reservation system. So I can’t comment on those, but dinner at the buffet is quite good, a bit better than the lunches.

The Rooms: Big but Need Some Love

This is where it becomes most obvious that the hotel isn’t a modern luxury 5-star, but rather a functional resort. The first impression is good because of the size, but then you notice the details.

Space and comfort: they’re spacious, almost reaching a “Junior Suite” with a separate living area, which is very much appreciated to avoid feeling cramped with luggage and kids.

  • The main bed: very large and comfortable, you rest well.
  • The sofa bed (watch out): here’s the problem. The sofa bed in the living area is not very comfortable for sleeping many nights in a row. It’s fine for a small child, but if you’re traveling with teenagers or a third adult, they’ll feel the springs. Keep this in mind.

  • Details that need improvement

    We found a rather old hairdryer and very basic amenities (don’t expect slippers or luxuries). Also, the water pressure was irregular and, curiously, the faucets were reversed (hot water came out on the cold side and vice versa), a detail that drives you a bit crazy on the first day.

    In summary: they deliver on size and cleanliness, but need a furniture renovation to match the price they sometimes charge.

    Overall, it’s an all-inclusive hotel where the food takes center stage — I couldn’t tell you anything bad about this aspect, because everything seemed of very good quality to me.

The atmosphere at Grand Sirenis is easy to define: it’s a family-oriented, lively hotel with constant activity.

Who is the atmosphere for? Forget about romance or absolute silence. Here you’ll see families everywhere, kids running around and lots of activity at the pools (karaoke, dances, games…).

The warning: if you’re traveling as a couple looking for disconnection or a quiet “honeymoon,” you’re choosing the wrong place — for that, go to Meliá Punta Cana Beach Wellness . Here the energy is 100% for families and groups.

Evening Shows (High level): A very pleasant surprise was the quality of the evening entertainment . Unlike other hotels where the shows feel a bit amateurish, here you can tell there’s real work behind them.

  • The production: The theater shows feature professional dancers, good set design and a high production level that manages to genuinely entertain the whole family , not just the kids.

Conclusion: Is Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Worth It?

After my stay, my answer is YES, but with one mandatory condition: the price .

The Grand Sirenis Punta Cana is a hotel that more than fulfills its main purpose: making sure kids have a blast and parents can rest .

The water park is incredible, the beach is super safe and the snacks make family logistics very easy.

However, let’s not kid ourselves: it’s not a real luxury 5-star . The food is fine (4-star level), the rooms need a renovation and the quality details (amenities, sofa bed) are lacking.

The Verdict: If you find a deal (below the price of Nickelodeon, Meliá Caribe, RIU Palace Bávaro or Wyndham Alltra), don’t think twice: it’s a fantastic option to enjoy with your family without breaking the bank . But if the price approaches other high-end resorts (we paid €284/night and felt it was expensive for what it offers), I recommend checking other options from my list, because for that money you can find better food and more modern rooms elsewhere.
